The selection procedure for admission to Ph.D. Programme is based on consistently good academic record throughout and interview performance. Reservations for SC/ST/OBC/PWD are applicable as per GOI norms.

The filled-in applications along with the necessary documents and a crossed Demand Draft for Rs. 1,000/- (Rs. 500/- in the case of SC/ST candidates) towards Registration fee, drawn in favour of the Director, National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur, payable at SBI RIT Branch (Code 1882), NIT Jamshedpur and should reach to Associate Dean (Academic: PG&R), NIT Jamshedpur-831014, Jharkhand (State) on or before 27/06/2014 (Friday).

• Super scribe on the envelop "APPLICATION FOR Ph.D. ADMISSION in the Department of_____________________________".
• The candidate is required to write on the reverse side of the Demand Draft his/her name and the program to which the application is being submitted.
• It is advised to send the application form by Speed Post / Registered Post.
• The candidates who are employed and wish to do Ph.D. under Part-time Research Scholar (PRS) category must submit SPONSORSHIP / NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE from the employer at the submission of application / time of admission, without which admission will not be possible.
• Check the following documents are attached to the application form :
  • DD with details written on its reverse side
  • Self-attested copy of SSC in support of Date of Birth
  • Self-attested copy of intermediate /(10+2) Certificate
  • Self-attested copies of Degree certificates and Mark Memos of the all qualifying examinations
  • Self-attested copy of the caste certificate (in case of SC/ST candidates)
  • For OBC candidates, self-attested copy of OBC certificate issued after 31/03/2014 as per the format given in the Annexure-I only is accepted
